Orchestral

Opera

Amy's Last Dive, with librettist Adam Strickson, was premiered during the 2012 Cultural Olympiad in Leeds. She has also collaborated with Amanda Holden and Tete a Tete, and is currently developing a new opera, Penelope's Web with Jeanne Pansard-Besson, King's College London and Oxford University.

Chamber

Cheryl has written over 40 chamber works, including 3 piano trios, a string quartet, a clarinet quintet, piano quintet, a string trio, a brass quintet, and duos for many combinations. The Forgiveness Machine was described by Andrew Clements in The Guardian as "sum[ming] up perfectly in 12 minutes the originality of her music." She is soon to embark on a major new work for string quartet. Choral

Cheryl's 50 choral works encompass both secular and sacred, chamber and massed choirs, and children's and professional. Her Merton Service has now been sung at Evensong around the country, and her Nisi Dominus was commissioned by the Dean of Christ Church, Oxford, for her Installation Ceremony. Vocal

Cheryl has written 6 song cycles and many more solo songs. She has collaborated with many poets, including Simon Armitage, Ian McMillan, Andrew Motion, Kei Miller Kate Wakeling, Di Sherlock and other poets. Her 80 minute song cycle Scenes from the Wild for tenor and chamber orchestra won a 2022 Ivor Novello Award. Listen to a playlist of selected vocal works here
